A social group is a group of age-matched children learning about social language and pragmatic skills while interacting under the intervention of a Speech-Language Pathologist.
Our social groups follow a curriculum that is tailored to the needs of the group participants based on client interest, client age, and skill level. Past social group topics have included:
- Understanding/using nonverbal communication (e.g., facial expressions, gestures)
- Recognizing and managing emotions
- Making & keeping friends
- Joining groups in play
- Being part of a group
- Big problems vs. little problems
- Privacy circles
